Bubbling up

Much time has passed but we finally went out caching this past week. It was more of a proof of concept to prove that we could get the GPS going, download or print out a cache to locate, and then actually do it which was the hardest part.

The weather was perfect for a walk and there was an easy one within 1/4 mile from our house...so off we went (after I spent 30 mins programming the GPS manually as I could not locate a cable). So off to Amazon I went to order one.

The cache - see title in pic - was a relatively quick find...so we enjoyed the walk most. To me the real accomplishment was getting out there and doing it. I'd like to bring our average up - to hopefully more than 1 per year!

Btw it took me way less time to order the cable on amazon than find the cache...I know why they named it after a jungle...they have it all!

Advertising on Steroids

I have always had a thing for NOT wearing clothing with brands plastered across them.

So I actually have a drawer full of tee shirts that are completely solid in color. This is of course very drab, dull and boring (but I don't have to tell you that, right?).

So I started hunting for graphic teeshirts with pictures only. BTW they are very hard to find at reasonable prices. The reason they are so scarce has always been a bit obvious to me...the companies that make them WANT YOU to be their billboard. So they reward you with low cost shirts that say Old Navy or other.

It should be this simple...but there are actually some companies that charge you *outrageous* fees for a regular shirt! Companies such as Abercrombie, or Banana Republic, etc... and I'm sure there are many, many new brands that are out these days that cost tons more. But I won't have it! I won't be your billboard!

So when I saw this article I just had to say, this guy got it right. Jason Sadler took advertising to whole nuther level...he gets companies to actually pay him to wear their shirts! Read it and see what I mean...

I'm not sure, but I think this whole advertising thing has gone way too far. What do you think? Will you wear their shirt? If so are you charging enough?

Orange you glad...

The oldest knock, knock joke in the world goes like this...

Knock, knock...who's there?
Banana.
Banana, who?
Banana, banana. Knock, knock...

who's there?
Banana.
Banana, who?
Banana, banana.
then...

Knock, knock...who's there?
Orange
Orange who?
Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

Well, I have gotten a little ORANGE crazy, lately...or at least it seems like it to me. First take a look at the pictures of my office, which at least the hard work is now done>

then I realized that i had purchased an iPad cover, AND a Kindle cover that were both ORANGE (well, not quite orange, rust really, but you get the point.)

Then we are back at the store looking for a stool to finish off the office and what do you think I'm attracted to? a stool that can have whatever fabric you want on it...like, yep. you guessed it.

and this? (no i didnt buy this one, but I am thinking about it. :0

Crazy right? or no? what do you think?

Tiled....again

We are FINALLY finishing our house after almost 2 years. This post is about the laundry room tile backsplash being done. Again.

You probably know the saga of our first pass, so I won't repeat. Suffice it to say I learned a few lessons about hiring contractors.

Meet Augie. He is a friend from church and bible study. He is also very good at tile, and a great guy. So on Saturday he came over, wet saw and all, and we spent the day working together to get the job done. And we did. I paid for the subs and wiped up afterwards as my contribution.

He texted me this morning to check and see if the tiles were still on the wall, which were, thankfully. And we agreed that if we ever go into business together we would have to charge by the hour.
